Notes for: William Edward KNAPP
William Knapp was born in Ripley County Indiana. Married Mary Francis Mounts in Owen County Indiana, moved to Sullivan County at the end of Civil War and then Moved to Elm Creek township, Morris county Kansas in advance of the Kaw Indian Lands opening up for settlement in 1873. Many from the congregation of the New Union Church in Owen County moved to Elm Creek, Knapps, Mounts' Pirtles, Hintons, Spears' and others who began the Wilsey Christian church in 1872 in Wilsey, Morris county Kansas. And lastly, moved to Ash Grove Missouri after the death of his wife Mary Francis Mounts Knapp in 1886, his Brother in Law William Anderson Mounts in 1891, moved to Ash Grove from Wilsey Kansas as well.
