Notes for: Edward Charles MCDONALD
Served on the staff of Maj. Gen. Sterling Price, CSA. Edward attended the United States Military Academy. He was expelled for being part of a group of Cadets that chased a flock of sheep into the Hudson River, drowning them. He then worked as a surveyor in Missouri. Afterward he spent time in Mexico, then returned to St. Louis. He undertook the study of law. He built the first brick house in Hannibal, Missouri. He died of pneumonia contracted while travling to Richmond to attain funds for the war effort in the Mid West. He made it to the family home at Winchester, Va where he passed away two days later with his brother Angus at his side.
