Notes for: William Warren PASCHAL

When Civil War came, 43-year old William was too old to serve, but was called into service in the waning days of the war when every male from as young as 14, to as old as 70, was called to arms. William entered service as a Private on September 10, 1864, at age 47, serving with Company B, Turnipseeds Company, formed in Greene Co.

At war's end, William's fortune, tied so much to his slaves, was decimated and with what funds were left to him, he became a Merchant in Eutaw, later becoming an Auctioneer. He also served as postmaster at Hinton's Grove.
