Notes for: Richard Wayne MARSH

Richard Wayne Marsh 89, of Grand Island died Tuesday, Feb 28, 2006, at Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island. He was born April 21, 1916, in Doniphan to Richars and Addie (Cleal) Marsh. On march 5, 1938, he married Opal Willcock in Leigh, She died April 30, 2003. Survivors include his son, David of Doniphan; daughter, Cleo Ramsey of Kearney; brother, Howard of Hastings sisters, Elva Webner of Sarasota, Fla., and Doris Modesto of Peoria, Ariz. He graduted from Doniphan High School in 1934. He entered the U.S. Army in 1945 and served in Germany. He was honorable discharged in 1946. He and his wife lived in Grand Island. He first was employed as a milk route transport driver and helped with the construction of U.S.Highway 281. In 1937 he joined his brother-in-law and traveled in sales for Nebraska Office Service. He became owner of the company in 1975 and was joined by his son and grandson. He retired in 2000, having worked with the company 63 years. He and his wife celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary shortly before she died. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Emmett Marsh; and one sister, Ethel True.
