Notes for: James S. HOPKINS
Kenwood - It is our sad office to chronicle the death of one of our colonists. Mr. James Hopkins passed away at Palatka on October 11, 1911, aged 63 years 8 months and 7 days. Mr. Hopkins was born in Williamstown, Vermont, July 4, 1848, and came to Putnam county last January. He purchased land in section 15, abutting the north line of the Kenwood site, erected a home, and fenced and prepared it for planting. Some weeks ago he began ailing and was finally taken to Palatka for treatment, but to no avail. The remains were taken to Williamstown for interment. While a resident among us Mr. Hopkins was looked upon as a man to be respected, and the community joins us in the feeling that we have lost a valuable citizen.
