Notes for: Levi Adam KEMP
Levi Adam Kemp, born in Dubois county Indiana, October 26 , 1836 and died March 18, 1882 in Spencer county Indiana. Married Jane Wollen of Spencer county, Indiana, the daughter of John Woolen. He first owned a farm in Dubois county, sold it and bought a farm south of his father's farm, 80 acres just across the line in Spencer county, Indiana. He finally purchased 40 acres from C. C. Kemp, adjoining his farm, part of grandfather Kemp's farm. He was strong and high tempered. About six feet tall and a raw boned man. He was very much interested in church and the affairs of the neighborhood. He was a member of the United Brethren Church and helped build the first United Brethren Church at Mt. Vernon Indiana. He took pride in farming and had a nice farm. After his death, Aunt Jane lived on the farm for several more years, she sold the farm to her son Albert Kemp. She moved to Velpin Indiana near her son Jones Kemp, and made that place her home until her death. She is buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Velpin Indiana. Some of their children were born in Dubois county and some in Spencer county. The family is scattered to various places. Adam S. Kemp lives at East St. Louis, Illinois, Silas D. Kemp lives at or near Waco Texas. The rest are now passed away to their final rest. Their children are Jones, Albert, Eva, Silas D., Emma, Benjamin, and Adam J. Kemp.
