Notes for: William Henry COX
Pioneer farmer and friend of William Henry Harrison. Sold many farms to German emigrants who usually had a trade of some kind. First came to Cincinnati and then followed friends and relatives to this locality along the lines of Dubois and Warrick counties and bought land from him. It is said that he never took a note or other evidence of debt and that he "never lost a dollar on a Dutchman. Williams educational advantages were limited. Left home around age 20 and accumulated 840 acres of land, givng much of it to his children. Was a Democrat in politics and served as Justice of the Peace in Dubois county for 5 years.
