Notes for: Thomas BOULDIN, Sr.
ENSIGN VA MIL. - REV. WAR
In 1778 he was granted a license to operate an "Ordinary" or roadhouse where travelers could obtain food, drink and lodging.
In 1789, he sold his business to his brother-in-law, Edward Moseley (also a REV.WAR soldier, who is buried in Va. Beach, VA.)
In 1789 he began a business in Henry County, VA. with Peter Perkins called "Bouldin and Perkins Iron Works."
In 1804 he bought Peter Perkins out and renamed the business "Thomas Bouldin and Sons Iron Works."
Thomas acquired about 1500 acres of land between the Smith River and Horsepasture, VA. along Grassy Creek where he operated many tobacco farms.
