Notes for: Phillip JARVIS Sr.

Phillip Jarvis and Sarah Alquire were married in Baltimore Co, Maryland in 1778. About 1808 they migrated with four sons and three daughters to Kirkwood twnshp, Belmont Co, Ohio. and were some of the first pioneers in the area. Phillip died in Kirkwood townshp in 1836 and it is assumed he is buried there. Sarah's death date is unknown. Thier son John, born in 1778 in Baltimore Co, Maryland, married a lady named Ruth. her maiden name is unknown. After living in Belmont Co, Ohio for some 20 years, he moved his family to Beaver twnshp, Guernsey Co, Ohio. when Noble county was formed in 1851, Beaver twnshp became part of that county. John died in 1855 and Ruth died in 1840 and are both buried in the Old Batesville cemetery, Batesville, Noble, Co, Ohio. John and Ruth's son Mead, born 1814 in Belmont Co, Ohio, married Mary House, born 1816 daughter of John House. Mead died in 1845 and is buried in the Ankrom Farm Cemetery, Beaver twnshp, Noble Co, Ohio. Mary House Jarvis then married to a man Ezekiel Knight in 1847, and during the 1850's they moved the family to Richland twnshp, Vinton Co, Ohio, Mary died in 1899 and is buried in the Wycoff Cemetery, Richland twnshp, Vinton co, Ohio. Mead and Mary's children were all born in Guernsey co, Ohio, William in 1837, Nancy Angeline in 1841, and Ezekiel in 1844. William later moved to Cherokee Co, Kansas. Nancy and Ezekiel remained in Vinton co, Ohio. In 1868 Ezekiel married Lydia Ann Swepston, born 1849, the daughter of Edward and Maria Montgomery Swepston. Ezekiel was a union soldier in the civil war from 1861-1865, and upon his return was a farmer in Richland twnshp. Ezekiel died in 1872, Lydia died in 1873, they are buried in Wycoff Cemetery Ezekiel and lydia's children were Francis Lawrence, born 1868, and Elizabeth, born 1871, in Richland Twnshp. In 1896 Francis (Frank) married Cora Henrietta Salts, born 1879, the daughter of George and Mary Jane McKibben Salts. Francis was School teacher at the Shiloh School in Richland twnshp, Francis died in 1946 and cora died in 1914, both are buried in Wycoff Cemetery, Francis and cora's children were George Alfred, born 1897, Joseph born 1901, and Thomas born 1906
