In the name of God Amen, I, Mead Jarvis of the County of Belmont and State of Ohio being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and memory considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs and thereby to the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me hence, do therefore publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say:
1st and principally, I commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body to the earth to be decently buried and after the expenses of my last sickness and burial and debts and paid and (___), I bequeath to my dearly beloved wife, all the beds and bedding which I possess, also the balance of all my personal property now (___) from execution (___) and devise to my wife one hundred and seventy five dollars to be paid (___) of her third of a forty acre lot of land in the Tuscawaras County Ohio which is (___) (___Baine) and Joshua Harshaw, which may be referred to an article (___) the parties and for this when the last payment shall be duly paid (___) shall make a good and sufficient deed for the same.
Also that my wife shall hold her third of these eighty acres lots of land in Tuscawaras County Ohio (___) held subject to any execution and judgement in favor of Johnson and Goshon (___).
Also I wish my executors to sell the three lots of land (___) and after deducting my wife's thirds to appropriate the balance to satisfy such judgment or execution as held by Johnson and Goshon as far as it will go. (___ more about the land that's difficult to read __)
I give to my son Nathan Jarvis one dollar. (___ more unreadable ___) balance that it shall be equally divided among my two sons and daughter, William Jarvis, Jesse Jarvis, and Harriett Rollins.
Lastly I hereby constitute and appoint William Jarvis and Jesse Jarvis of the county of Belmont and the State of Ohio to be the executors of this my last will and testament revoking and nullifying all former wills by me made (___) and confirming this testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 17th day of April 1840. Signed, sealed, published, and declared by Mead Jarvis the said testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us, who at his request and in his presence have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.
