Notes for: Sarah Helen MCFADDIN
Sarah's three daughters married men who would become the primary business associates of William Perry Herring McFaddin, the first cousin to these daughters. Sarah's husband, an early Beaumont merchant, was, of course, the namesake of W.P.H. McFaddin. The businesses of this group of Dr. O. M. Kyle, William Wiess, Valentine Wiess, and W. P. H. McFaddin included the acquisition of pasture land, cattle ranching, and a feed lot; rice farming, irrigation, and milling; trading in muskrat pelts; and eventually petroleum when oil was discovered under their land at Spindletop in 1901.
