Notes for: Andrew MCFADIN

Known as "Slim Andy," he is said to have fired the first shot at the Battle of Tippecanoe in November 1811 against the Indian brothersTecumseh and Prophet. He and his father later served for two months as mounted riflemen in the 4th Regiment of the Indiana Territory Militia in the War of 1812.

Andrew stayed in Mount Vernon, Indiana, and was a very wealthy businessman, well known, and liked. He developed a grist mill, a lumber mill and woodyard, and shipped produce to New Orleans from the wharf he inheireted from his father. He also packed and shipped salt pork.

Very interesting family history to be found on him in the IndianaArchives. [email David McFadden, 16 June, 2000]
