Notes for: Wyatt MCFADIN

Wyatt McFadin was the first child of Jonathon and Sally (Patrick) McFadin. After his father's death in 1807 in Warren Co., KY, his widowed mother remarried Jacob Bozeman and the family removed to White Co., IL. Wyatt married there in 1823, but his wife apparently died soon after as Wyatt married again only a year later back in Warren Co., KY. Soon afterward, he and his new bride, together with her father Elijah Hammett and his family and others, removed to the area of Chariton Co., Missouri, that would later become Randolph Co. Their four children were born in Missouri. [Note: This is contrary to accounts that give the eldest son an 1824 birth date and attribute him to Wyatt's first wife Volley.] After the death of Wyatt's second wife Rebecca, he married the widow Lucretia (Hamilton) Proffitt who had two teenaged daughters slightly older than his own. Soon afterward (ca. 1850) the family removed to McLennan Co.,Texas. Son Andrew was born there at the time his two older half-brothers Jonathan and David were serving in the Texas Rangers at Goliad, Texas. Wyatt and Lucretia are buried at Valley Mills, Bosque Co., Texas. Wyatt's grave marker indicates his birth year as 1800." (email from David McFadden)
