Notes for: James MCFADDEN

Resided in Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, and Texas. On the 1850 Census of Brazoria Co., Texas, James was listed with his wife, Louisa and the twins, as a "planter" with a significant value of land and personal assets totaling $13,215. Ten years later, he was in Tyler, Smith Co.,Texas, with his third wife, Mariella and the twins, listed on the census as a "day laborer" with land and personal assets of only $4,800. Tradition states that he "died in the East," however this could be a confusion with the fact that his third wife was "from the East." [DavidMcFadden email 5/5/00]
