Notes for: James MCFADIN
James McFadin was the second child of John McFadin. It is believed that he was born in either Massachusetts or perhaps Pennsylvania about 1742 prior to his family moving to Frederick Co., Maryland. James was a Captain in the North Carolina Militia in Col. William Graham's Regiment, and participated in the Cherokee Expedition in 1776 as well as in the Revolutionary War. By 1783 James, along with his brothers Andrew, William, and John, were in Davidson Co., NC (later TN). Andrew, William, and John soon moved on to Warren Co., KY. Captain James McFadin remained in Davidson Co. (as documented in various mentions in the Tennessee Archives 1783-1792, pp.4 - 486). James died in Davidson Co., TN, in1790. His son Jacob was the Executor of his will. Very little is known of most of the sons of James after 1810, and there is no record of the names of any daughters. Refer to the record of each son for what is known or being researched. [email from David McFadden]
