Notes for: Wade Hampton MCFADIN

He came to Texas as a widower with three minor children: William, Mary E., and Adeline. They all came from Kentucky to settle in Texas near his oldest son Phinas D., in McClennon County, coming through Panola County. In 1855-56, he applied for guardianship of his three minor children. This was done in Panola Co., Texas. After death of Jame Humphries McFadden, he applied for assignment as administrator for herestate.

WADE H. McFADDIN, another son of Samuel McFaddin, son of John Stephen. This was taken from the Simpson County Kentucky History, Vol. 4,page. 221. Wade H. McFaddin and Elizabeth Hampton were married in Warren County, Kentucky in 1820, and moved shortly thereafter to Simpson County, Kentucky. In Simpson County, Kentucky, Wade H. McFaddin raised primestock, saddle horses and mules; and he transported his stock to the Gulf Coast for shipment elsewhere. Wade H. came to Texas in 1852 and after moving on to McClennan County, he continued to raise stock there until his death in 1870. Samuel, the father of Wade H., was born in North Carolina and married in North Carolina; but soon afterwards moved to Warren County, Kentucky, where he lived at McFaddin Fort, about five miles north of Bowling Green.

Simpson County History states that Wade H. and Elizabeth McFaddin had nine children. We have only been able to locate six; however, there are nine years difference between the ages of the first and second child located. There is ample time here for other children, but they have not been found of record and they could possibly have died as infants. (Marie Whitworth and Vida Louise Morris)
