Sources of records found to establish the relationship of Andrew of Panola County and Elizabeth McFaddin Anderson, wife of Bailey Anderson,Jr. and Nancy McFaddin Anderson, wife of Wyatt Anderson, Sr. These three children of Samuel came to early Texas. Mary Polly McFaddin daughter of Andrew and Jane of Panola County Texas, married William Humphries before.September 27, 1834 in Texas. Recorded Entrance Certificate for William Humphries dated San Augustine, September 27, 1834, stated William, native of Tennessee and a family of two. Jane, the oldest child of this marriage was born in 1835. The 1850 census of Panola County shows PoIly Humphries, widow, with seven children in the household. Only four lived to adulthood, Jane, Holland, Amanda, and Mahala. Holland's full name was Andrew Holland, but used only the name Holland. District Clerk records of Panola County, Case No. 2040, 1881, Thomas Humphries, half brother to William, states that William Humphries died in Panola County in 1846. Probate records of Panola County, January 1853, application was made by Samuel McFaddin for administration of the estate of his mother, Jane McFaddin. He states that Jane died December 1852. This Jane being the wife of the older Andrew of Panola County. Panola probate records,February 29, 1853, Polly Humphries applied for guardianship of minor children of William Humphries; namely, Amanda, Holland, and Mahala. Jane being of age had married Tom J. McFaddin in 1854 in Panola County. Probate records, Panola County, November 18, 1855, Tom J. McFaddin, applied for guardianship of minors, of Polly and William Humphries, both deceased. Minors were named as Amanda, Holland, and Mahala. Also applying for administration of their estate and their interests in the estate of their grandmother, Jane McFaddin, and their interests in the estate of their uncle, Samuel McFaddin. Thus, establishing the fact that Mary Polly McFaddin Humphries was a daughter of the elder Andrew and Jane McFaddin of Panola County. The sworn affidavit of William E. Anderson made and sworn to July 9, 1905, recorded in Jefferson County, Texas, at which time William E. Anderson was a resident in Freestone County, Texas. In this statement he states that Mary Polly Humphries was a niece of his mother, his mother being Elizabeth McFaddin Anderson, wife of Bailey Anderson,Jr., thus establishing that Elizabeth was a sister to Andrew McFaddin. William E. Anderson was born in Texas in 1825, and these statements were of his own knowledge. In this affidavit William E. Anderson also states that his mother's brothers, Andrew, Jonathan, Eliza, John, and Wade H.McFaddin, are the same sons shown in the Bible record of Samuel, the fourth son of John Stephen McFaddin. Unfortunately, Elizabeth did not name her sisters.
The same date as William E. Anderson, 1905, affidavit was sworn to and made by Archie E. Anderson of Panola County, son of Jonathan ShelbyAnderson that Mary Humphries was his second cousin. This then would be the first cousin of his father, Jonathan, Jonathan being a son of Nancy McFaddin Anderson and Wyatt Anderson, Sr.
Archie E. Anderson was born in Texas in 1833 and this information is shown as of his own knowledge. These statements of William E. Anderson and Archie E. Anderson were made in the preparation of a lawsuit of English and Humphries regarding the Humphries league of land in Jefferson County, Texas. From this information we find that the elder Andrew McFaddin in Panola County, Elizabeth McFaddin Anderson, wife of Bailey Anderson, Jr., and Nancy McFaddin Anderson, wife of Wyatt Anderson, Sr., were brothers and sisters.
