Notes for: Samuel MCDOWELL
He served in Samuel Lewis's (his second cousin, once removed) Company of men from Augusta County, VA during the French and Indian Wars fighting the Shawnee at Point Pleasant. He served during the Revolutionary War as a Colonel of the militia guarding the mountain passes. He served under General Nathanael Greene in the North Carolina Campaign at Guilford Courthouse March 15, 1781. He served several terms in the Virginia House of Burgessess from what was then Augusta County, VA he served as a delgate to the Virginia Convention. He moved to Fayette County, KY and in 1784 he moved to Mercer County, KY. He was appointed as a Judge in County, State (Kentucky) and Federal levels during his life time. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
